A train on Wednesday crushed a Police Inspector, Philip Kolo and an unidentified motorcyclist to death in Lagos.
The incident occurred at Agege area of Lagos when the Police man and the motorcyclist were crossing the rail line at Public Works Department (PWD) bus-stop.
The Policeman was said to have been attached to the defunct Inspector-General of Police Special Tactical Squad (STS).
A source said the police inspector was in Lagos for an official assignment at the state police command.
After the incident, the train, it was gathered had dropped the wreckage of the motorcycle at Shogunle.
Eye-witness account said the incident occurred as the motorcycle’s wheel was too close to the train’s magnet, adding that this was why the victims were dragged and crushed.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the Lagos Command, CSP Chike Oti, who confirmed the story told newsmen that the Police has started investigation into incident.
He also said the Police Officer was a member of the IGP Monitoring Unit Striking Team.
The Lagos District Manager of Nigeria Railway Corporation, Mr. Jerry Oche, said the incident occurred as the motorcyclist refused to stop for the moving train.
“We have warned passersby, motorists and other road users to stay away from railway tracks. Railway track is a very dangerous place to toy with; everything involved is iron both the rail tracks and the train itself”.
