LASG Expands Public Service Workforce Space by 19,525m²

The Lagos State Government has expanded office accommodation for public servants by an additional 19,525 square metres as part of ongoing efforts to improve operational efficiency, enhance service delivery and reduce expenditure on rented office spaces.

 

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Works, Dr. Adekunle Olayinka, disclosed this during the 2026 Ministerial Press Briefing held at the Bagauda Kaltho Press Centre, Alausa, Ikeja, to commemorate the third year of the second term in Office of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat.

 

Speaking on the achievements recorded by the Office of Works, Olayinka said the administration remains committed to infrastructure-led growth as a catalyst for economic development, job creation and improved quality of life for Lagos residents.

 

He noted that the completion and commissioning of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Administrative Complex and the Revenue House within the Alausa Secretariat have significantly expanded office space for public servants while strengthening the government’s capacity to deliver services efficiently.

 

According to him, the projects underscore the administration’s commitment to infrastructure renewal and development in line with the THEMES+ Agenda and the Lagos State Development Plan 2052.

 

The Special Adviser stated that since inception, the administration has pursued the completion of inherited projects while initiating new infrastructure interventions designed to strengthen governance, improve public institutions, expand healthcare access and stimulate socio-economic development across the State.

 

He explained that the Office of Works continues to serve as a consultant to Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), providing technical expertise and ensuring the successful delivery of strategic projects across sectors.

 

“The Government has continued to invest deliberately in infrastructure as a platform for fulfilling the social contract with Lagosians. Through these projects, we have created jobs, stimulated economic activities and improved the quality of public service delivery across the State,” Olayinka said.

 

Highlighting key projects delivered and ongoing under the administration, the Special Adviser disclosed that significant investments are being made in the health sector, including the construction of the 280-bed General Hospital in Ojo, the ongoing 150-bed Massey Children’s Hospital Main Building and Multi-Level Car Park, the 1,500-bed Psychiatric Hospital and Rehabilitation Centre in Ketu-Ejinrin, as well as the Hostel Annexe at the Lagos State College of Nursing, Igando.

 

In the justice and security sectors, he listed the renovation of magistrates’ courts across the State, the Lagos State Judiciary Sheriff Warehouse in Majidun, Ikorodu, the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) Hall, additional facilities at the Alausa Barracks Police Station, and the reconstruction of the Lekki Ancient Town Divisional Police Station.

 

Olayinka also highlighted major educational infrastructure projects, including the construction and furnishing of office complexes, lecture theatres, tutorial rooms and laboratories at the Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH), Ikorodu Campus, and the Lagos State University of Education (LASUED), Ijanikin Campus. Other projects include a 460-seat lecture theatre at the Epe Campus in Noforija, the Central Library Building at Lagos State University, Ojo, the remodelling of the University of Lagos Main Gate and the e-GIS Headquarters in Alausa.

 

The Special Adviser further stated that the State Government is deliberately pursuing a sustainable infrastructure management strategy aimed at preserving the value and functionality of public assets.

 

He explained that the strategy combines routine maintenance of existing infrastructure with continuous rehabilitation and upgrading of facilities to ensure their long-term viability and effectiveness.

 

“In Lagos State, we emphasise a two-pronged approach to sustainability by ensuring that existing assets are properly maintained to perform optimally while also rehabilitating and upgrading critical infrastructure to meet evolving needs. This approach guarantees value preservation and maximises the benefits of public investments,” Olayinka stated.
