The Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN), has inaugurated four new haulage units within its Dockworkers branch in Delta State.
The units and their leadership teams include Ifiekoro/Obeji Unit chaired by Comrade Endurance Odongharo Bobele with Secretary Andy Eyifoma Omagbemi; Sapele Unit led by Chairman Comrade Felix Oborodowan and Secretary Akoko Ag; Koko Unit headed by Chairman Comrade Happy Wilkie alongside Secretary Bright Dumkpemi; and Oghara Unit with Chairman Comrade Daniel Ayoka and Secretary Tanno Kingsley.
Following the inauguration, Comrade Agboola Bolaji, President of the Dockworkers Branch, congratulated the newly appointed officers and urged them to adhere strictly to the union’s constitution and maintain professionalism to protect and enhance the union’s reputation. Bolaji emphasized the crucial role of these new units as ambassadors of MWUN, marking the inauguration as a significant milestone that signals a new era of strengthened union presence and activity in the maritime sector across Delta State. This development comes as MWUN also plans to join the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in warning strikes, directing members to shut down ports in solidarity actions.
