| President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has offered Dr Ibrahim Ida, appointment as Chairman of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and nominated seven individuals as federal commissioners for the National Population Commission (NPC), subject to confirmation by the National Assembly. |
| Dr Ida holds a Master’s degree in Banking and Finance from the University of Ibadan (1983) and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of Abuja (2003). He previously served as Commissioner of Finance in Katsina State and as a Permanent Secretary in the Federal Civil Service. He was also elected to the Senate in 2017, representing Katsina Central. |
| The President nominated the following individuals as NPC commissioners representing their respective states: Kolawole Oladipupo Alabi (Ekiti), Nasiru Mu’azu (Zamfara), Usman Abubakar Tuggar (Bauchi), Dr Isaka Alada Yahaya (Kwara), Prof. Sadiq Isah Radda (Katsina), Suleiman Umar (Jigawa), and Chiso Abdullahi Dattijo (Sokoto). |
| The appointments are intended to fill existing vacancies and complement other commissioners already sworn in. |
| In a related development, Tinubu appointed Dr Yusuf Mohammed from Kano State as Chairman of the Federal Polytechnic, Kaltungo. |
| The president also confirmed the appointment of Bala Mohammed Bello as Special Adviser on Political Economy. Bello holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and a Master of Business Administration from Ahmadu Bello University. He previously served as Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria and as Executive Director (Corporate Services) at the Nigerian Export-Import Bank between 2017 and 2022. |
| The presidency expressed confidence that the appointees would contribute to advancing the administration’s policies and improving the welfare of Nigerians. |
