A Ghanaian national, Mr Kevin Okyere has been invited by the British National Crime Agency (BNCA) to assist in investigations of corruption, bribery and money laundering allegations against Nigeria’s former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke.

Okyere is among three persons of interest who have been invited to assist the UK authorities with their investigations.

The persons of interest were not being charged with any crime but have been invited to help with investigations.

Alison-Madueke, was arrested last Friday by UK National Crimes Agency, alongside four other people in relation to offences of bribery, corruption and money laundering. She was later granted bail.

According to the BNCA, investigations on the former minister were commenced in 2013 under the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA).

After her arrest last Friday, they decided to extend their dragnet to interrogating “persons of interest” which includes Okyere according to the Nigerian newspaper.

Okyere, is said to be the chief executive of Springfield Oil & Gas.

The other persons of interest invited include a UK-based real estate agent; Chairman/CEO of Aiteo Oil and Gas, Mr  Benedict Peters; and one Mrs Melanie Spencer, from whom £10,000 was confiscated last week.
