Although, there yet no official response confirming that Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has resigned from his position as National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), with immediate effect from the Party secretariat.

However in his resignation letter, the former Kano State Governor cited health concerns as the reason for stepping down, saying he needs to focus on his well-being.

Ganduje, who assumed the role in August 2023 following the resignation of Abdullahi Adamu, exits at a time of deepening internal rifts within the ruling party.

His tenure was marred by a series of legal challenges, leadership disputes, and growing dissatisfaction from party stakeholders.

Although Ganduje officially pointed to health reasons, sources linked his departure to sustained political pressure and internal discontent.

His leadership reportedly came under increasing scrutiny over allegations of financial impropriety, including complaints about excessive fees imposed on aspirants particularly those contesting the FCT area council elections.

The party leader also faced Court battles during his time in office.

In April 2024, a Kano State High Court issued an ex parte order restraining him from identifying as an APC member, after a legal challenge initiated by some state party executives.

Although a separate lawsuit seeking his removal filed by the APC North Central Forum was dismissed by a Federal High Court in Abuja, unease within the party remained.
