…As 22 Kidnapped In Niger State

Agency Report

A grandfather has narrated how gunmen invaded a community in Niger State and ate their fill from his daughter’s kitchen before abducting 19 persons in Rafi Local Government Area (LGA), Niger State.

The Chief of Staff to the Rafi LG chairman, Mohammed Mohammed, on Monday confirmed the Invasion of the local government by gunmen.

Mohammed also revealed that a clergyman was killed during the attack.

Channels Television reports that the gunmen invaded the Ogu community in their numbers on Sunday on motorcycles, shooting into the air.

Ogu is a settlement close to Wayam, another community about two kilometres from Kagara, the headquarters of Rafi LGA.

An eye witness, Sani Gamachindo, told Channels TV that gunmen had invaded the Tegina community at about 12:30 am on Monday, and abducted 19 people.

“The gunmen entered the room of my daughter that night, but she hid herself under the bed, while her husband went up the ceiling.

“When the gunmen entered their room, they spent like 30 minutes and ate almost all the food in the kitchen. Thank God they were not abducted, but 16 persons were kidnapped,” he narrated.

The gunmen ransacked houses of residents and carted away whatever valuable they could lay their hands on.

Also, in Ogu community of the same local government, the invaders kidnapped additional six persons.

The recent attack comes barely four days after gunmen abducted four persons, including two children of two health workers in Garin Gabbas and Yakila communities in Rafi LGA.

A youth leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and the District Head of Gunna, were also victims.

Also, on Friday gunmen had killed a pastor, Jeremiah Ibrahim, who was attached to the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA), in Chukuba community in Shiroro LGA.
