The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) and the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) are embarking on strong collaboration to accelerate the development of Nigeria’s maritime sector and Blue Economy. Speaking during a courtesy visit by the NSE leadership to NIMASA’s headquarters in Lagos, Dr. Dayo Mobereola, Director General of NIMASA, underscored the indispensable role of professionalism in engineering as a critical pillar for building robust maritime infrastructure essential to Nigeria’s Blue Economy ambitions. He reiterated NIMASA’s full commitment to working closely with NSE to support national priorities under the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda and the Blue Economy policy framework.
Engineer Margaret Aina Oguntala, President of NSE, highlighted the society’s strong alignment with governmental strategies aimed at unlocking the vast potentials of Nigeria’s marine and maritime resources.
She emphasized that enhanced cooperation between NSE and NIMASA would foster technological innovation, improve infrastructure development, and ensure sustainable growth that benefits the Nigerian economy.
Both parties emphasized the synergy between engineering expertise and maritime safety administration as key to achieving transformational progress in Nigeria’s maritime sector.
The meeting concluded with a mutual pledge to deepen partnership efforts, exchange expertise, and promote joint initiatives that will boost Nigeria’s standing in the global Blue Economy landscape while driving inclusive economic growth at home. This collaboration marks a significant step toward harnessing the full potential of Nigeria’s water resources and maritime industry for long-term national prosperity.
