The Network On Police Reform In Nigeria (NOPRIN), has frowned at the case of one Mr. Olalekan Ogunsanya who almost lost his life after a misunderstanding between him and one Assistant Superintendent of Police, ASP Francis on the 8th January, 2020 at Itire area of Lagos State.
After a visit to the victim by NOPRIN, it was realised that although little efforts have been made by the Itire Police Command DPO to see that the victim gets the medical attention to fully recover.
NOPRIN reports that the victim is still a long way off from being fully healthy and financially buoyant to cater for his needs and that of his young family.
In a statement Ikule Emmanuel, NOPRIN National Coordinator said it was also learnt that ASP Francis who perpetrated the attack has not been in touch with the victim since the attack, as at the time of the visit.
“We are baffled at this extreme display of inhumane treatment by a high ranking officer of the law who is supposed to be a shining light to other low ranking officials.
“NOPRIN calls on the Inspector General of police to order an inquiry into this case of attempted murder by ASP Francis and ensure that justice is done and citizens’ rights and life are highly regarded irrespective of the party involved Nobody is above the law and nobody should be more equal than others.” Ikule demanded.
