The Oyo/Osun Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has paid a courtesy visit to International Breweries Plc’s plant in Ilesa, Osun State, with the aim to strengthen cooperation with one of its key excise stakeholders. The visit, led by the Acting Customs Area Controller, Deputy Comptroller of Customs Wale Moses Adewole on Tuesday, 14 April 2026, was aimed at fostering mutual understanding, addressing operational issues, and reinforcing the importance of tax compliance.
During the engagement, DC Wale Adewole reiterated the Command’s focus on enforcing extant excise laws while creating an enabling environment for legitimate trade. He highlighted that compliance with fiscal regulations is not only a legal requirement but also a vital pillar of national revenue generation and economic stability. He commended International Breweries Plc for its strong track record in meeting these obligations and contributing meaningfully to job creation and local development.
The Acting Customs Area Controller urged the brewery management to sustain its high standards of compliance and operational transparency, noting that such conduct sets a positive example for other excise factories under the Command. In response, the plant manager, Mr. Emmanuel Onabanjo, welcomed the visit and described it as a welcome opportunity for open communication. He reaffirmed the factory’s commitment to maintaining a strong working relationship with the Nigeria Customs Service and to abiding by all applicable regulatory requirements.
The visit served as a forum for both parties to exchange views on day‑to‑day challenges, share practical solutions, and explore ways to enhance collaboration going forward. The Oyo/Osun Area Command reiterated its readiness to engage regularly with excise factories and other stakeholders, underscoring that stakeholder participation, trade facilitation, and effective enforcement of fiscal policies remain central to the service’s mandate.
