Operatives of the Puff Adder from the Zone 2 Command has tracked down a 40 feet container truck of contraband including foreign rice and chemicals worth several millions of Naira.
According to DSP Hauwa Idris Adamu, the Zone’s public relations officer, “The Container truck was tracked, intercepted and impounded while the culprits jumped out of the truck, took to their heels and in the ensuring pursuit, abandoned the contraband goods in the truck to an unknown destination.”
The container has been imported into the country through the Tin-Can Island Port in contravention to the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Speaking in Apapa at the location of the intercepted container truck, the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 2 Command, AIG Ahmed Iliyasu commended the operation and told members of the press of his commitment to uphold Operation Puff Adder and flush out criminal activities in Lagos and Ogun States.
