Oil major, TotalEnergies, says it is committed to sustain operational efficiency across its producing assets in Nigeria.

In a goodwill speech during the delegates’ conference of the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), Managing Director and Country Chair, of the company, Matthieu Bouyer, restated the firm’s commitment to safety in its operations, competency development, and an inclusive workplace where everyone can contribute to achieving the company’s business objectives and national goals in the oil and gas sector.

He said the company would continue to invest in Nigeria, through existing and upcoming projects, capacity building to strengthen local competencies and by building mutually beneficial partnerships to improve productivity and competitiveness, so that the industry can deliver enduring value for employees, communities and the country.

Represented by the Executive General Manager, People and Talent Management, TotalEnergies EP Nigeria, Kenechi Esomeju, said the union elects new leadership. He called for resolutions that would promote harmony, strengthen industrial relations, and support a more prosperous Nigeria.

Bouyer said the firm recognises that sustainable business performance and national development are best achieved when workers’ welfare, operational excellence and mutual respect are advanced together.
Expressing the firm’s value with NUPENG, Bouyer said the firm remained committed to open communication, social dialogue, and peaceful resolution of issues, anchored on the law and shared interests.

The TotalEnergies boss said the company looked forward to working with the new executives in the spirit of mutual respect, constructive dialogue, and a shared commitment to the industry’s progress and the well-being of workers.

“In this context, sector stability and the quality of discussions between social partners are critical determinants of success. NUPENG’s leadership has an important role to play through responsible stewardship, constructive engagement and a continued commitment to industrial peace, safeguarding operational continuity.
