Two persons, Chidielere Emmanuel and Peter Egwu were on May 20,arrested by Police within the Agbara District, Lagos while trying to illegally reconnect a house disconnected by official of Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC).
Mr Godwin Idemudia, the General Manager, Corporate Communications, EKEDC, in a state in Lagos said the suspects were detained at the Ijaniki Police Station.
According to the General Manager,, the two were arraigned at the Badagry Magistrate Court on May 22 on a case of illegal reconnection and tampering with electrical installation.
Idemudia said the plea of the defendants were taken and they pleaded not guilty to the Four count charge.
“The Counsel to the defendants applied for their bail and same was granted.
“The court ordered the remand of the defendants pending the perfection of their bail conditions.
“The case was adjourned to June 20, 2018 for mention,” he said.
Idemudia, hereby warned customers within EKEDC network to desist from illegal reconnection, adding that anybody cut in the act would be made to face the wrath of the law.
