Kano DisCo Restructures To Drive Efficiency, Boost Productivity

The Kano Electricity Distribution Company Plc (KEDCO), has made new appointments of four Chiefs and Directors in a deliberate move to drive efficiency and boost productivity.

The restructuring according to a statement by the Company’s Head, Corporate Communications, Sani Bala Sani, is part of the Board and Management’s commitment to transforming KEDCO into a leading digitally enabled Electricity Distribution Company through investment in its employees to meet the needs of all stakeholders.

Sani named the new appointees to include Engr Kassim Abdullahi Burkullu as the Chief Technical Officer (CTO), Dr Abubakar Shuaibu Jimeta as the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), Engr Shuaibu Abdullahi Adeiza as the Director of Customer Business Solutions (DCBS), and Engr. Inuwa Bala Daneji the Director of Technical Initiatives and Special Projects (DTSIP).

Engr. Kassim Abdullahi Burkullu Chief Technical Officer (CTO) is an experienced engineer with techno-commercial skills and over twenty years of cognate work experience which spans across generation, transmission, and distribution sectors.

He holds several prestigious affiliations, including Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (FNSE), Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (FNIEEE), Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Power Engineers (FNIPE), Fellow of the Institute of Corporate Administrators (FCAI), Member of the Nigerian Institute of Management (MNIM), Member of the International Association of Engineers (MIAEng), registered with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) etc. Previously, he has taken on various leadership roles in the industry, including serving as Chief   Technical Officer, Head of Operations and   Maintenance, and Regional Manager.

Engr. Burkullu will lead the transformation of technical processes and drive a digitally enabled DisCo which will reduce ATC&C losses.

This will be achieved through the implementation of a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) program and the integration of additional sources of electricity to customers while ensuring grid stability and growth. Engr. Burkullu was most recently the CTO of Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC).

Dr. Abubakar Jimeta Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), is a seasoned commercial and strategy expert with over two decades of experience in international and national organizations which spans across the power, automobile, FMCG (Tobacco), and banking sectors.

He is a Fellow of the National Institute of Marketing and the Institute of Management Consultants and previously held positions of Chief Commercial Officer, Chief Revenue Assurance Officer, and Regional Manager in other DisCos.

Dr. Jimeta is a certified Prosci Change Management professional and aims to steer the new KEDCO towards a ‘Customer 1st’ approach.

By prioritising customer electricity supply needs, he intends to lead the transformation of commercial processes and implementation of initiatives aimed at reducing ATC&C losses while promoting business growth and sustainability. Dr. Jimeta was most recently the CCO for Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JEDC).

Engr. Shuaibu Abdullahi Adeiza, Director Customer Business Solutions     Directorate is a seasoned Engineer with over two decades of cognate work experience with techno-commercial skills and renewable energies management skills. He is a member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) and a Fellow of the Institution of Power Engineers (FNIPE).

His experience traverse electricity distribution and generation and the mobile telecommunications sector where he held positions middle to executive management, which includes Regional Engineer, Feeder Manager, Head of System Operations, and Chief Technical Officer.

Engr. Adeiza will steer the re-integration of key customers into the grid, utilising technology to ensure uninterrupted power supply, and leading strategic technical operations and service delivery initiatives while driving ATC&C losses reduction.

Engr. Inuwa Bala Daneji, Director of Technical Initiatives and Special Projects, is a seasoned Engineer with expertise in both technology and commercial, with over two decades of work experience in the power industry. He held various management and executive positions in both Technical and Commercial Services. He is a member of The Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) and the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE).

He has served as Senior Manager Distribution, Technical Engineer, Business Manager, Head of Network Planning and Investment, and the Acting Chief Technical Officer during the company’s transition period.

Engr Daneji will lead the implementation of technical initiatives to expand the network, provide high-quality supply to customers and reduce ATC&C losses. While driving the technical design and development of major investment projects, he will also play a key role in transitioning KEDCO to becoming one of the first Green DISCOs in Africa, through the utilisation of Renewable Energy Projects.

Congratulating the appointees, the Managing Director/CEO, Abubakar Yusuf, urged them to develop detailed strategies and plans to guide the implementation of programs and projects in their respective areas of responsibility to achieve KEDCO’s organisational goals.
