The Nigeria Police has promoted DSP Bala Elkana, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Lagos State Police Command to Superintendent of Police (SP).
DSP Bala Elkana became Lagos State Command Police Public Relations Officer on 11th March, 2019.
He was enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force in 2003.
He holds a Bachelors degree in Law (LLB), Master’s Degree in Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA).
He had served in different commands and held various positions, including Operations Officer, Divisional Crime Officer, Divisional Police Officer, Community Policing Officer.
In addition to all these positions, he was an Investigator in the IGP Monitoring Unit and was the Police Public Relations Officer in Niger and Akwa Ibom states.
His elevation came just as the Police Service Commission (PSC) approved the promotion of 6,618 Senior Police officers.
According to a statement signed by Head of Press and Public Relation of the Commission, Ikechukwu Ani on Friday said the promotion was one of the high points of the 8th plenary meeting of the commission which spanned a period of three weeks.
Bala Elkana, until his promotion, was a Deputy Superintendent of police in charge of Lagos state police command’s public relation unit and is described as one of the best Public Relation officers the command had produced.
Other media personnel that engages him in one way or the other says his Public Relation Standard has been standing him tall in all in endeavours and that it is worth a thing of pride.
DSP Bala Elkana now SP, have a rich background in Public Relations relations and Information Management, He is also a Fellow of Corporate Institute of Administration, and an active member of International Association of Chiefs of Police and a member of Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).
