The Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has congratulated the former chairman of the State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former Commissioner for Home Affairs, Alhaji Babatunde Balogun, on his 75th birthday.

He described Balogun, a member of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), who clocks 75 on Friday, March 13, as a principled, dedicated, respected and seasoned politician whose positive impact on governance and politics are felt in his constituency and Lagos State.

Governor Sanwo-Olu, in a statement issued on Friday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Gboyega Akosile, said Alhaji Babatunde Balogun’s significant contributions to Lagos State, particularly during his tenure as the Commissioner for Home Affairs and Chairman of the ruling party, remain worthy of commendation.

He said: “On behalf of my wife, Ibijoke; the government, and the people of Lagos State, as well as members of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), leaders and members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), I congratulate Alhaji Babatunde Balogun, on his 75th birthday.

“Alhaji Babatunde Balogun is an experienced politician who is passionate about good governance and the delivery of democratic dividends to the people. He served Lagos State passionately as Commissioner for Home Affairs and contributed positively to the progress, growth and development of the State.

“Since he joined partisan politics, Alhaji Balogun has remained one of the respected political leaders and leading voices in Lagos State, particularly in Apapa. He is a disciplined and principled politician. He was a one-time chairman of the Lagos APC and contributed to the success of the ruling party, particularly during the 2019 general elections.

“He also led our party to victory as the Chairman of the 40-man Lagos APC Campaign Council during the July 12, 2025 council polls in Lagos State. His contributions remain invaluable as a member of the Governance Advisory Council.

“On this occasion of his 75th birthday, I pray that God will grant Alhaji Babatunde Balogun good health to enable him to render more service to humanity, his community, our dear ruling All Progressives Congress, Lagos State, and Nigeria.”
