The Governing Council and the entire membership of the Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA) have expressed profound sorrow and deep shock over the transition of Barr. Rotimi Edu, mni, a former President of the Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers (NCRIB) and an illustrious pillar of the Nigerian insurance ecosystem.

Barr. Edu was an exceptional leader, an astute legal mind, and a visionary insurance practitioner who dedicated decades of his professional life to the advancement, integration, and regulatory growth of the insurance industry in Nigeria.

Barrister Rotimi Edu was a titan whose commitment to professionalism and ethical standards was exemplary. As the 21st President of the NCRIB, he championed initiatives that fostered deeper collaboration between underwriters and brokers, effectively strengthening the unity of our industry. His passing leaves a massive vacuum that will be deeply felt across the entire financial services sector.

Throughout his meritorious career, Barr. Edu distinguished himself not only through professional excellence but also through his selfless service to society. As a member of the prestigious National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, he consistently brought high-level strategic insight into industry discussions, advocating for reforms that align with modern economic realities.

The NIA extends its deepest, most heartfelt condolences to the President of the NCRIB, the Governing Board, and the entire brokerage fraternity. Our thoughts and prayers are also with his immediate family, his colleagues, and friends during this incredibly difficult period of grief.

“While the industry mourns a monumental loss, we take solace in the enduring legacy of integrity, leadership, and institutional progress he left behind.” NIA said in a statement.

The NIA prayed for his noble soul to find eternal rest with the Almighty God.
