The Police in Lagos have arrested two herders for allegedly killing a man in Lagos.
The yet to be identified man was killed by Fulani herdsmen on Monday after he was mistaken for the conductor of a vehicle that killed one of their cows at Agemowo area of Badagry, Lagos state.
The Police Public Relation Officer of the Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed this to the media.
According to the Police “A commercial LT bus was said to be on a high speed in the area, when it crashed to one of the cows, being crossed to the other side of the road by the Fulani herdsmen”
“An argument was said to have ensued between the commercial bus conductor and the Fulani herdsmen, which resulted in the herders stabbing the conductor to death”
“The incident created instant reaction on residents of the area, who blocked the expressway and threatening to avenge the death of the deceased man”
The situated caused serious traffic gridlock on the dilapidated road forcing many motorists to make a detour to find alternative roads.
“The DPO Morogbo Division assisted by military officers from 243 Battalion, Badagry successful cleared the area and normalcy has since been restored to the area”
The Police denied that “It is entirely false that the deceased was turned back, when he sought refuge in the Police station .”He did not make it off the accident scene, let alone reaching the station” said the Spokesman.
