The Renewed Hope Media Tour continued its nationwide assessment of developmental projects by inspecting key infrastructure and housing projects in Abia State.

The tour forms part of the efforts to provide Nigerians with firsthand information about projects being implemented under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, while highlighting the impact of the government’s interventions on citizens’ lives across the country.

Among the projects inspected was the Ohafia–Umuahia Federal Road, an important transportation route connecting communities and commercial centres in the state.

The delegation also visited the strategic state-financed 67.6-kilometre Umuahia–Uzuakoli–Akara–Ohafia Road, a major transportation corridor linking several communities across Abia State.

The road will significantly improve connectivity, facilitate the movement of agricultural produce, reduce travel time, stimulate commercial activity, and open rural communities to greater economic opportunities.

At the Omenuko Bridge along the Ohafia–Umuahia corridor, members of the delegation observed ongoing efforts to strengthen critical transportation infrastructure that serves thousands of commuters and businesses.

The bridge remains a vital link connecting communities and supporting economic activities across the area.

A major highlight of the tour was the inspection of the Renewed Hope Housing Estate in Umuahia, a flagship Federal Government housing project comprising 1,200 housing units.

The initiative is among the largest housing development projects under President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Housing Programme.  The Managing Director of the Federal Housing Authority, Oyetunde Oladimeji Ojo, said procurement for the site has been done and that contractors will soon begin work.

The Abia State Government provided the land and paid compensation to affected landowners, while the Federal Government, through the Federal Housing Authority, is undertaking the construction.

The project is expected to expand access to affordable housing, create employment opportunities, and stimulate economic activities within the state.

The team also visited the Onuinyan Bende Renewed Hope Housing Project, another significant housing development aimed at addressing Nigerians’ housing needs while creating jobs and promoting local economic development.

The project forms part of the Federal Government’s commitment to reducing the nation’s housing deficit through strategic investments in affordable housing.

The delegation further inspected the newly commissioned Nnenna Oti Bus Terminal in Umuahia, a modern transportation hub designed to transform public transportation in Abia State.

The facility provides a world-class environment for passengers and transport operators. It is expected to improve traffic management, enhance commuter convenience, boost commercial activities, and strengthen Umuahia’s position as a major transportation centre in the South-east region.

Another important project visited was the section of the Owerri–Abia–Imo Federal Road in Umuahia, where ongoing reconstruction and rehabilitation works are improving connectivity and easing transportation challenges for motorists and residents.

Business owners and community members along the corridor expressed appreciation for the improvements, noting that the project is already contributing to increased economic activities and easier movement within the area.

The delegation also assessed progress on the Abia section of the Enugu–Port Harcourt Expressway, one of Nigeria’s most strategic federal highways. The road serves as a critical link between the South-east and South-south regions and plays a vital role in facilitating interstate commerce, transportation, and economic integration.

Ongoing reconstruction works are expected to enhance safety, reduce travel time, and support national economic growth.

Residents who interacted with the media team expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work on the various projects, describing them as clear evidence of President Tinubu’s efforts to address long-standing infrastructure challenges and improve living conditions across communities.

The Renewed Hope Media Tour continues to provide a transparent platform for showcasing the Federal Government’s ongoing projects and programmes, allowing Nigerians to see firsthand the progress being made under the administration of President Bola Tinubu as the Renewed Hope Agenda translates into visible development projects across the country.

The media delegation was jointly led by Mr Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, and Chief Sunday Dare, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communications, along with other presidential aides, media executives, and journalists from print and electronic media.
