Villarreal coach, Unai Emery, is relieved that his team will go into the second leg of the Champions League semi final with Liverpool with only a two- nil deficit after the team’s defensive game plan backfired at Anfield.
Liverpool, which looked frustrated in the first half after Villarreal manned the barricades, got her reward after the break, thanks to an own goal and a Sadio Mane strike.
Emery, said Villareal resorted to defensive style of football after Liverpool denied his team the chance to attack, pass and to construct, adding that Villareal would have to play with more intensity in the second match billed for next Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp, has warned the team to be completely on alert for the return leg against Villarreal despite taking two-goal lead to Spain
