A 19-year-old boy, Chinedu Anyaoku, has reportedly committed suicide.
The tragedy occurred at Obofia village, Ojoto, in Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The reason why Anyaoku took his own life was still unknown; but a source, who claimed to be the deceased’s sister, said her husband, Nkoto, called her on phone telling her that his brother committed suicide. She said:
“My husband called me on the phone in the morning, telling me that he heard my brother committed suicide inside our family house. I left what I was doing and rushed to my father’s house. “When I got there, sympathisers were everywhere. That was when I realised that what I heard was true. When I got in, I saw my brother’s lifeless body dangling in one of the rooms.“
“What have we done? God help us! My mother had two boys, and one died under unusual circumstances. Today, this one is gone, too,” she sobbed.
Asked why the young man decided to take his own life, she said the family was yet to find out the reason, as, according to her, her brother, Chinedu, was neither showing any sign of mental ill-health nor sign of frustration.
Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, Haruna Mohammed, said the matter had not been reported to the police. But a local vigilante operative in the community, Jude Okafor, confirmed the development:
“The information is correct. Chinedu is the only son of his mother. We woke up this morning to hear that he committed suicide inside his father’s house at Ojoto Obofia. That is the much I can tell you for now. He was buried after necessary rituals were done,” he said.

Quite unfortunate. What could have made the boy to do this? Devil is a liar.
