A 200-level student of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba has committed suicide.
The female student was identified as Feranmi Fasunle Omowumi, in the Department of Political Science.
Fasunle reportedly drank a poisonous substance and died after being taken to several hospitals.
She did not leave any suicide note to indicate the reason for her actions.
Some students attributed her actions to heartbreak but a friend who refused to say her name said the late Fasunle was not into any relationship.
Confirming the incident, the spokesman of the institution; Victor Akinpelumi, said the management sympathizes with the family.
Similarly, a student of Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU has reportedly taken his own life. The OAU student identified as Oboh Emmanuel killed himself due to his poor academic performance.
Also, information shared by a friend, Thompson on Facebook revealed the OAU student died as a result of academic depression.
Thompson said Oboh drank otapiapia (local rat poison) which led to his death.
He wrote: “Emmanuel took his life out of depression (Academics).
I use to envy dis (sic) young man in Secondary schools. Rest in Peace, Oboh Emmanuel.”
