The Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, LCCI, has commended the role played by the United Bank of Africa, UBA and the Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS, in boosting the 2020 Lagos International Trade Fair, LITF.
In a remark by the Chairman, Trade Promotion Board of the LCCI, Gabriel Idahosa at the opening of the 2020 Lagos International Trade Fair, LITF, special recognition was also extended to the Lagos State Government under the able leadership of the Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, which made the hosting of the 2020 LITF possible.
Idahosa, said, It is my pleasure to specially acknowledge our partners and sponsors including United Bank for Africa Plc, Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Erisco, 2sure, Lasena, Lifemate, FAE and Digfusion. I would also like to appreciate our media partners for their support in promoting publicity for this event. On behalf of the council and entire membership of the Lagos Chamber, I extend our most sincere appreciation to you all.”
According to him, the 34th edition of the LITF is unique in many ways, adding, “This year’s trade fair is a hybrid event. The 2020 LITF is a hybrid event, combining in-person and virtual participation. The virtual fair was incorporated in the broader LITF in the light of the covid-19 pandemic and the limitations it poses.
This is a reflection of the new normal.”
The chairman used the opportunity to reassure its partners, exhibitors, and visitors that COVID-19 protocols and preventive measures will be strongly observed at the fair ground as the Chamber is working in close collaboration with the Lagos State Safety Commission to ensure full compliance.
Idahosa also applauded the President of the Lagos Chamber, Mrs Toki Mabogunje and all members of the Executive Committee and Council for the tremendous support they gave the Trade Promotion Board. “Many thanks to all my colleagues on the Trade Promotion Board of the Chamber for their tireless commitment, sacrifice and hard work. Let me seize this opportunity to express our appreciation to the managements of the Tafawa Balewa Square, for making the venue available for this fair.”
He said the Chamber has done its best within the limits of prevailing constraints to put in place a befitting fair. “We have put structures, logistics and systems in place to ensure regular power supply, free movement within the fair arena, free flow of traffic in and out of the fair arena, security of lives and property including the provision of surveillance camera to cover the entire fair ground, directional signs, provision of digital electronic billboards for advertisement, provision of internet facilities for easy filing of reports by the media and other conveniences.”
