Three persons reportedly died in Osun State when their car veered off the road and crashed while being pursued by the Police.

The incident sparked off protest in Osogbo, Osun State on Monday, September 15 after operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS reportedly chased three suspected internet fraudsters to their demise.

According to eyewitnesses, the young men were riding in their car when the SARS officers attempted to stop them.

They refused to stop and the SARS officers engaged them in a hot pursuit.

Consequently, the driver of the car lost control, veered off the road and hit an electric pole.

One of the occupants of the car died on the spot, two others died later.

Subsequently, aggrieved youths in the area dumped one of the corpses in front of Osun Government House; Oke Fia, and destroyed a motorcycle.

Also, the protesters, who were mostly youths, also targeted Police operatives and allegedly attacked many bystanders around Oke Fia, Alekuwodo, and Ilobu road.

SARS operatives have been serially accused of a number of deploying heavy-handed tactics.

A couple of months ago, popular social media critic, Joe Abah criticized the Nigerian youth for its misplaced priorities. According to him, the youths need to rally together and fight for justice against SARS.

Joe Abah, who made this call via his verified Twitter handle further revealed that the priorities of the next generation are misplaced. He criticized the current generation for their inability to kick against nefarious activities of F-SARS.

Joe Abah tweeted;

“You try to be a big brother to Naija youth but they prefer #BigBrotherNaija.

”You trend #EndSARS to protect them, although SARS will never harass you the way they harass them, they prefer to trend #ReleaseTacha. As many parents often ask, “At what point exactly did I go wrong?”
