3 Policemen, 5 Palace Guards Killed As Gunmen Attack Convoy Of Emir Of Kauran Namoda

The Katsina Police Command has confirmed the death of three Policemen and five Palace guards during an attack on the convoy of the Emir of Kauran Namoda.

In a statement by Gambo Isah, spokesman of the Command, “On 18/12/2020 at about 0030hrs, the convoy of Emir of Kauran Namoda, Alhaji Muhammad Sunusi while on transit from Abuja to Zamfara state was attacked at Funtua, along Funtua – Gusau road. ”

Isah, said, the Policemen in the front escort vehicle engaged the bandits in a gun duel and as a result of which the driver of the vehicle was shot at and  lost control of the vehicle and summersaulted off the road and fell into a nearby pond.

“Subsequently, a team of Policemen led by DPO Funtua arrived the scene rescued the Emir and recovered eight (8) dead bodies, comprising three (3) police men and five (5) palace guards. He said investigation is ongoing.
