50 Army Officers Undertake Training Exercise

The Nigerian Army School of Finance and Administration (NASFA) on Tuesday trained it’s personnel with the required skills towards resolving contemporary security challenges within a joint environment in Defence of Nigeria.

The Commandant of the school, Brig.-Gen. Felix Ohunyeye said the training was inline with Chief Of Army Staff (COAS) Lt.-Gen. Faruk Yahaya’s vision: “A Professional Nigerian Army Ready to Accomplish Assigned Missions within a Joint Environment in Defence of Nigeria.”

Ohunyeye said this during the second phase of the Nigerian Army Leadership Development Seminar (NALDS) 2021 with theme: Strategic Management For Gaining And Sustaining Competitive Advantage.

The Programme would hold from Nov. 16 to Nov. 19 at Maj.-Gen. AA Abdulkadir Hall, Headquarters Command Finance Office, Apapa, Lagos State.

The Commandant said that the seminar was designed for officers in the Ranks of Lieutenant Colonels and Colonels in view of the important roles the Cadre of officers play in policy formulation and implementation.

“The seminar is organised by NASFA in conjunction with Nigeria’s premier Management Professional body, the Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered).

“The NALDS is structured to equip participants with the right skills, values and orientation to carry out their roles effectively and efficiently through the use of global management best practices.

“The theme was carefully croped to prepare participants for their day to day assignments which requires inventive, innovative and creative attitude as key drives to effective leadership in the Nigeria Army (NA),” he said.

Ohunyeye said that the topics discussed were targeted to meet NA’s expectation towards resolving contemporary security challenges within a joint environment in defence of Nigeria.

“The topics discussed include: Straiegic Analysis Under Risk and Uncertainty, Valve Chain Analysis, SWOT and PESTLE Analysis, Strategic Planning Process as well as Gaining and Sustaining Competitive Advantage in Business.

“These selected topics are very important tools towards effective Higher Management of Defence, Strategic Communications and a pood understanding of the Operational Joint Environment for ease of acheving NA’s Constitutional roles and objectives,” he said.

Ohunyeye also said that the seminar would ensure and equip the participants with a good knowledge of requisite Problem Solving Techniques.

“This will help foster a deeper understanding of the roles of junior and intermediate leaders in analysing and resolving contemporary issues, thus optimising your potentials and career prospects,” he said.
