The governor of lagos state, Akinwumi Ambode has commended the electricity project initiated by Techno Telecoms, saying such steps should be emulated by other corporate organisations.
Ambode who was the special guest of honour at the unveiling of “Lighting Project” at the Computer Village Ikeja, said the initiative will further boost security in Lagos state.
The governor, represented by the Honourable commissioner for science and technology, mr Olufemi Odubiyi, said,”I am enthused and highly elated in giving gratitude to almighty God for my presence here today as special guest of honour in this esteemed gathering.
Techno Telecoms Limited,a major business marketer within the business district area has made a significant contribution and giving back to the society as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to the community.
“The idea of giving back to the community is laudable and calls for emulation as it complements the efforts of the state government in lighting up the entire state especially the areas regarded as Dark Spots.
I am particularly delighted to observe that the Computer Village is a place of massive ICT marketing which now enjoy peaceful and cordial relationship between the marketers and the resident community.
This has brought about a new sense of peace and harmony as the security of the whole area is now a thing of joy because the marketers and the community have jointly sanitized the area by sending away people of bad and questionable character, the governor observed.
Speaking further he said, “It is also noteworthy to observe that the environment is being kept clean as a result of peaceful and cordial relationship between the marketers and host community.
I will urge you to maintain the environmental cleanliness of the area as this is one of the major concerns of the State Government, please ensure that all refuse and disposable materials are properly bagged and carted away promptly.
There should be no illegal dumping site within the community”.
Speaking further Ambode said, “The project being commissioned today, the Ikeja Solar Street Light project, I am told, covered about ten (10) streets and also extends to two other communities namely Anifowose and Anibiyi CDAs. Undoubtably this project will light up Ikeja computer village and its environs and this is expected to boost socio-economic activities in the concerned areas.
The project sponsored by Techno Telecom Ltd is an applaudable project, it is hoped that they will not limit their social responsibility project to this Solar Street light alone.
The ministry of Science and Technology will be delighted to partner with other Telecommunication Companies in providing social services to the people of Lagos State” he said.
Also speaking, the Managing Director Techno Telecoms Ltd, Nigeria, Mr Chidi explained that the project was conceived in 2014, and its commissioning to light up Ikeja Computer village is as a sign of gratitude towards the community.
“Techno Telecoms Ltd is proud to be identified with Nigeria and wants to be seen as a Strong “Son of the Soil”. Techno’s contribution shows that both Government and Private Sector can work hand in hand in providing needed infrastructure where needed” he said.
