Over 694 electricity users have so far benefited from Power Clinic, a Corporate Social Responsibility, CSR, initiative of the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company, PHED.
The Chief Executive Officer, PHED, Jay Mccoskey disclosed this during a public function in Port Harcourt, recently.
The power clinic was flagged off in August 2016 by the management of PHED to conduct free medical checks on some of her customers in Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross River and Rivers States.
“As a responsive company, the health of our customers is very paramount to us and that is why we partner with Hygeia in providing free medical checks to our numerous customers out there.
“It is a way of identifying with our customers over the years for remaining faithful with us through payment of their electricity bills.
“The free medical checks afforded customers the opportunity of having their blood pressure, sugar level , eyes tested among others in the four states of our licensed area of coverage”, the CEO said.
A cross section of some of the beneficiaries appreciated the free medical checks by PHED.
“I am surprised to see PHED with their medical team coming out to carry out medical checks on us free of charge here in Uyo, because it has never happened before”, Mr. Victor Udom Akpan, a resident of No. 22 Nwaniba Road, said.
To Ify Joe-Benson of Agip Estate in Port Harcourt, she was happy when her eyes were tested by the team at Presidential Hotel during the public forum with the House of Representative Committee on Power.
