A group of unidentified gunmen have killed at least seven people in Kaduna on Thursday night, said a local official on Friday.
The gunmen, suspected to be bandits, raided the community in large numbers, opening fire on some residents in Zangon Kataf local government area of the state, said Samuel Aruwan, a commissioner for Kaduna State Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs.
One person was injured in the attack, while 13 houses and two shops were burnt, Aruwan said in a statement.
Aruwan said security forces immediately responded to the attack, pursuing the suspected bandits into a nearby bush in a bid to catch them.
Banditry, kidnappings, and other criminal activities have been rampant in the state for years.
