9Mobile is targeting a fair share Nigeria’s burgeoning telecommunications markets leading to its new identity with a name change a year after LH Telecommunication Limited acquired a majority stake in the network provider, securing a 95.5 per cent stake and changing control of 9mobile.

Femi Banigbe, CEO of Emerging Markets Telecommunication Services Limited (EMTS), described the rebrand as “the beginning of a bold new chapter” for the company. “This is not just a brand unveiling, it is the beginning of a bold new chapter in our history. We are no longer who we were, but we are becoming something greater and more ambitious,” he said.

The transformation goes beyond a new logo or tagline, representing a renewed mission and promise to customers. Banigbe noted that technology is now integral to business, culture, and human connection, and Nigerians demand speed, access, and relevance.

Bosun Tijani, Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, commended mobile network operators for transforming Nigeria’s digital landscape. “The MNOs have invested boldly, spending over ₦75 billion in towers, fibre, and 5G without government subsidy. They’ve powered our economy, contributing around 16% to GDP, and creating millions of jobs,” he said.

Tijani described the T2 rebrand as a strong signal of the company’s readiness to compete, innovate, and contribute to Nigeria’s digital ambitions. “Let this rebrand be a renewed commitment to innovation, service excellence, and the millions of Nigerians who depend on your network,” he added.
