The Governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has extended the curfew placed on Aba, the commercial city of the State by one day.
The curfew billed to end on Thursday, the 14th day of September, 2017 will now end on Friday, 15th of September, 2017.
A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Enyinnaya Appolos disclosed that the Governor advised both the residents and visitors to cooperate with the security agencies to ensure continuation of maintenance of law and order within Aba and environs.
“He also wishes to express his displeasure with the situation where people are compelled to raise their hands while passing through security checkpoints and hereby call on the security agents and all concerned to ensure that such act and all other forms of inhumane and barbaric treatment of people are discontinued immediately”, the statement said.
It will be recalled that following security concerns and potential for breakdown of law and order, the Governor had announced the imposition of three day dusk to dawn curfew on Aba from Tuesday, 12th to Thursday, 14th of September, 2017.
