The Commissioner of Accident Investigation Bureau, AIB, Dr Felix Abali has made case for the establishment of an Accident Intervention Fund for the Bureau.
Speaking during the visit of the Senate Committee on Aviation to the aviation industry, Abali explained that the fund is very crucial to the industry.
He cited the example of Malaysia Airlines that was able to survive despite two successive crashes, adding that this was made possible because the country has an Accident Intervention Fund.
Abali stated that if it were to be in Nigeria without such fund, the airline would have collapsed.
He said the Commission needs more money from the Ticket Sales Charge, TSC to carry out some of its projects, noting that the 3 percent given to the Commission from TSC is inadequate to carry out its responsibilities effectively.
