The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, in Anambra has lamented lack of defensive driving among motorists which often led to road crashes.
The warning came after a luxury bus crashed with a Volkswagen car.
According to spokesperson of the Command, RC Pascal A. Anigbo, “At about 3pm today Sunday 9 August, 2020 a serious Road Traffic Crash involving a Volkswagen Golf with registration number ZBL654RL and a Mercedes Benz Stania (Luxury Bus) with enlistment number NSH279YG, belonging to Ifeanyi Chukwu Motors, was recorded near Airport Junction Nteje, along Nteje-Awka expressway.”
Anigbo said, a total of Nine (9) male adults were also involved in the crash, out of which Five (5) sustained varying degrees of injuries.
“No death was recorded. Two (2) of the injured victims were taken to Chira Hospital Awkuzu by the FRSC rescue team from Nteje Unit Command.” he said.
The Sector Commander, CC Andrew A. Kumapayi, strongly warned drivers against wrongful overtaking and other forms of dangerous driving.
“Drivers should drive with maximum concentration, shun speeding and other vises that lead to avoidable road traffic crashes.” he advised.
