Anambra FRSC Reports Multiple Accidents

The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC in Anambra has reported multiple accidents in the state.

According to, RTC Pascal A. Anigbo, Sector Public Education Officer, “Today Thursday 4June, 2020 Three Road Traffic Crashes were recorded at different locations across Anambra State. The first crash occurred at about 10.25am under the River Niger Bridge.

It involved a Toyota Dyna with registration number GDD551YE and a Suzuki Every with registration number GDD841ZP. The crash was caused by Loss of Control. A total of Four (4) adult males were involved in the accident. One sustained some degree of injury, he was rushed to Toronto Hospital Onitsha by the FRSC rescue team from Onitsha Unit Command.”

Also, at about 12.15pm a lone Road Traffic Crash occurred at Abba Junction, along Awka-Onitsha expressway. The vehicle involved was a Toyota Sienna with registration number ENU106NX. Five (5) victims (2 adult males and 3 adult females) were inside the vehicle at the time it crashed. No death and no injury was recorded. The crash was caused by Excessive Speeding, Wrongful Overtaking and Loss of Control. The FRSC rescue team from Nteje Unit Command ensured the clearing of obstruction caused.

Further, Anigbo said that at about 3.04pm a third and the only fatal Road Traffic Crash recorded today Thursday 4 June, 2020 occurred at Egbebele along Abatete-Oraukwu road. The crash which was caused by Over-Speeding and Loss of Control involved Three victims (2 male adults and 1 female adult), in a Toyota Hiace bus with registration number AKD758FR. The victims were rushed to Iyi-Enu Hospital. The female victim was confirmed dead at the hospital and the corpse deposited at the morgue, in the same hospital. Operatives of the NPF and NSCDC were instrumental inbred rescue operation.

The Sector Commander Federal Road Safety Corps Anambra State, CC Andrew A. Kumapayi condoled with the family of the dead and wished the injured victims quick recovery.

He also reiterated the importance of obeying speed limits and driving with common sense speed limit, especially within built-up areas. Drivers should also drive defensively and overtake only when it is safe to do so, saying that most road traffic crashes are avoidable.
