The All Progressive Congress (APC) Governorship candidate for 2027 election in Lagos, Dr. Kadiri Obafemi Hamzat, has called for unity among religious and regional leaders ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Hamzat, who is currently the Lagos State Deputy Governor, also urged Nigerians to support the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to ensure continuity in governance.
The Governorship hopeful, stated this during the official turbaning of prominent elder statesman Prince Tajudeen Oluyole Olusi (OON) as the Baba Adinni of Yoruba Land, at a grand ceremony held at the Onikan Stadium in Lagos.
The event, organized by the Council of Islamic Preachers also saw Chief Mrs. Folashade Tinubu-Ojo,installed as the Iya Adinni of Yoruba Land.
Addressing the gathering of political stakeholders, traditional rulers, and religious leaders, Dr. Hamzat emphasized that regional cohesion is vital for national stability as the country approaches the next election cycle.
He stated that President Tinubu’s administration has laid a solid foundation for developmental projects, asserting that re-electing the President in 2027 is necessary to maintain policy consistency and prevent political disruption.
Speaking on the merits of the newly installed Islamic leader, the Chairman of the Planning Committee, Dr. Seyi Bamigbade, stated that Prince Tajudeen Oluyole Olusi eminently deserves the prestigious title, noting that the honour aligns with activities celebrating Prince Olusi’s 90th birthday.
Bamigbade highlighted Olusi’s lifelong dedication to community development, noting his consistent efforts in preaching peace across various communities, political networks, and government institutions.
Also speaking, Dr. Samuel Mayuwon Ajose praised the Council of Islamic Preachers for their choice.
He stated that selecting an exemplary and respected elder statesman like Prince Olusi as the Baba Adinni of Yoruba Land would significantly strengthen religious harmony and social cohesion across the region.
The landmark ceremony celebrated the rich Islamic heritage of the Southwest and brought together top government functionaries, including the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, who was the Chief Host of the occasion.
