The Association of Registered Insurance Agents of Nigeria (ARIAN) will on Friday, July 10, walks the streets of Lagos to create awareness for third party insurance in Nigeria.
Gbadebo Olamerun, ARIAN President said that the walk exercise is aimed at creating more awareness for compulsory insurances in the country.
Other aims of the walk exercise is to increase insurance penetration and to drive enforcement for the compulsory insurances.
“The aim of the walk exercise is also to drive the relevancy of insurance agents in economy development of the country.
“We are in partnership with Nigeria Police Force, Federal Road Safety Corps, Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and other security agencies in Lagos state.
“All the security agencies will be on the match with us.
“We will stop to check for valid insurance particulars of motorists on the road.”he said.
The exercise which will start from the Governor’s office, Alausa to check the third party particulars of Mr. Akinwumi Ambode’s vehicles before moving down to Allen and Ikeja.
All insurance agents in Nigeria represented by the underwriters are expected to be in attendance.
Also, the Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA) will make available the Nigerian Insurance Industry Database (NIID) for the check of valid third party particulars.
In the same vein, Gbadebo Olamerun, said that the walk exercise will serve as statistics gathering for the industry to know the number of vehicles on Lagos roads that have genuine motor insurance.
He also said that the Friday’s walk will then give birth for one-million-man-march across the states of the country to create massive awareness for insurance in Nigeria.
