The Oyo-Osun command of the Service said contaminated repackaged bags of rice is spreading around the country from Benin Republic. Yemisi Izuora Nigeria is slightly moving close to self food sufficiency just as the country’s total paddy rice production in 2016 was estimated to have climbed to 17,487,562 metric tons, leaving a balance of about 11.4 million metric tons after accounting for 12.4 per cent of rice production wasted due to post-harvest losses.
