An eight year old girl, Miss Yvonne Shokare, abducted by Fulani herdsmen after inflicting various degrees of injury on the father has been rescued by the Issele-Uku vigilance group.

The young girl who was abducted last night, was rescued in the bush this morning, Friday 15th November, 2019.

According to the brave young girl in her narration, she noticed that the Fulani herdsmen were fast asleep at their resting haven in the bush and she stealthily hid away unnoticed from them.

It was where she was hiding in the bush that the Vigilante operatives met her and rescued her back into town.

The girl’s father, a teacher at the Issele-Uku Technical College, Mr. Ese Shokare was stabbed in the head and other parts of his body before overpowering him and abducted the daughter out of their home opposite the Issele-Uku Technical College along Ubulu-Okiti road. He was resuscitated at the Intensive Care Unit of the General Hospital in Issele-Uku where he is still being treated.

The President General of Issele-Uku Development Union, Mr. Ofordile Ugeh who alerted people of the town and coordinated the rescue mission, thanked God for saving Issele-Uku from the horrendous attack.

He commended the vigilance group and affirmed that there was need for urgent security arrangement to forestall such occurrences in Issele-Uku and environs.

The young girl and the parents had been presented to the police at the Issele-Uku Divisional Police Headquarters to incident the matter and for them to commence investigation into the case.

Meanwhile, the Vigilante operatives are still combing the bush for a possible arrest of some of the bandits while more of their members are being mobilized to join in the chase.
