For many followers of trending security news, the highly worrisome criminal activities of *serial killers who have been terrorising some parts of the 2 Southwest States of Oyo and Ogun* is no longer a new story. As a matter of fact, *both criminals have terrorised and killed innocent citizens of Nigeria in both Akinyele area of Ibadan Oyo State and Ogere area of Sagamu Ogun State respectively* with fears on their l respective deadly acts spreading like wild fire amongst the people.
Despite *Shodipe’s escape from custody after being allowed to take his bath at the Police Divisional Headquarters in Ibadan,* the gallant efforts of officers and men of Oyo State Police Command led by *CP Nwachukwu Enwonwu* with support from tactical squads from the IGP, led to the *rearrest of Shodipe in Oyo State yesterday Sunday 23rd August, 2020.*
To further reaffirm the doggedness and commitment of *IGP Muhammed Adamu* towards the security of lives and properties of all Nigerians, the Ogun State Police Command, led by *CP Edward Awolowo Ajogun PSC,* today *Tuesday 25th August, 2020* apprehended Dosunmu (Spartacus) in his hide out inside a forest in Ogere Sagamu area of the State. The CP who has *hit the ground running* since his arrival in Ogun State through series of *community engagement and wide consultations* in collaboration with the PCRC, sister security agencies and other stakeholder, has made it clear that *no criminal elements will be allowed in any part of the Gateway State.*
It is no coincidence that both successes recorded by the Police in Oyo and Ogun States comes at almost the same time. The *IGP has continuously been applauded by security analyst in the Southwest for the calibre of high intellectual and professional officers and men regularly posted to the Geopolitical Zone.* The likes of *AIG Ahmed Iliyasu PSC+* of Zone 2, Lagos and Ogun State Commands has often been described by many in the 6 Southwest States as a blessing to the Nigeria Police for his exploits in the nitty gritty of community based policing.
Iliyasu’s exploits in *Ogun and Kano States as CP,* coupled with his ongoing painstaking and strategic supervision of both Lagos and Ogun States where *CP Hakeem Odumosu* has so far been brilliant and now *CP Edward Awolowo Ajogun,* a former DC Ops under Iliyasu, has hit the ground running, can only be attributed to *hard work, commitment and total dedication to the safety of residence of both Lagos and Ogun States*
The *strong and cordial relationship between the Police and Community* in the Southwest Geopolitical Zone, through the PCRC can not be over emphasized. The National Vice Chairman of PCRC in the Zone, *Alhaji Mogaji Ibrahim Olaniyan* and his State Chairmen across the 6 States and 3 Zones have *continued to make headlines for all the good reasons,* it terms exceptional partnership between the Community and the Police.
We can’t but *appreciate the gallantry of all officers and men who have directly or indirectly taken part in this victory against criminal elements* in the neighboring States of Oyo and Ogun. Also appreciated is the leadership provided by the Executive Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, *Engr. Seyi Makinde* and his counterpart in Ogun, His Excellency, *Prince Dapo Abiodun,* CPs of both States, the PPROs and all tactical units for *the quick, timely and safety inclined action against the perpetrators of the heinous acts.*
Lastly, the Oyo State PCRC Chairman, *Rev Peter Omofoye,* is highly commended for his patriotic contributions and partnership with CP Nwachukwu Enwowu and the Oyo State Police Command, *despite the recent loss of his dear wife,* while Ogun State PCRC, led by *Ven. Dr. Arch. Samson Kunle Popoola* and his executives as usual, remains a *good and inspirational example,* when it comes to Police Community partnership without borders.
The message is crystal clear to all and sundry, *the Southwest will not tolerate criminal elements in her domain* and the Nigeria Police, led by the highly operational *IGP Mohammed Adamu,* his management team and AIGs, remains *committed to giving necessary technical support for collaborations between the NPF and the Community.*
