Buhari Appoints Farouk Salim As New DG For SON

The Federal Government has appointed Farouk Salim as new Director General of the Standards Organization of Nigeria, SON.

Salim replaced Mr. Osita Aboloma who has completed his first tenure in office.

Salim’s appointment takes effect from September 26, 2020 as conveyed by the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Niyi Adebayo.

President Muhammadu Buhari has also approved the appointment of Bashir Babajo as Executive Director, Operations, Nigerian Agricultural Insurance Corporation, NAIC, for a period of four years in the first instance.

Babajo’s appointment is with effect from August 1, according to the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Buhari also renewed the appointment of Philip Ashinze as Executive Director, Finance and Administration for a second and final four-year period with effect from August 1.

The President’s approval was conveyed to the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Sabo Nanono, in a letter with reference number, SH/COS/42/3/A/988, signed by the Chief of Staff to the President, Ibrahim Gambari.
