The Corporate Affairs and Branding Managers of insurance companies under the auspices of the Nigerian Insurers Association (CAMCONIA) has concluded arrangements to hold its annual retreat from September 14 to16 in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.
The theme of this year’s retreat is “Achieving Positive Corporate Identity and Superior Brand Management in a Turbulent Economy.” CAMCONIA Chairman, who doubles as the Head of Corporate Communications of STACO Insurance Plc, Dr. Tunde Odeyemi, disclosed this in Lagos.
He said the retreat provides an opportunity for members of the association to come together outside their working environment to rob minds and brainstorm on issues of paramount importance for the growth of the insurance industry.
Topics to be treated at the retreat include Contemporary techniques for managing Media Relations and Negative Press; Building on Corporate Reputation: Issues, Challenges and Strategies for Growing Brand Equity in a Turbulent Economy: The Nigeria Experience.
Other topics are: Crisis Communication, Evaluation, Strategies and Effective Positioning Ethical issues in Crisis Communication and Reputation Management and Harnessing Marketing Communication Strategies for Positive Corporate Image.
He said all the topics will be handled by seasoned and experienced facilitators who will do justice to them in order to achieve the objective of the retreat.
Members, he added, will be exposed to strategies of cultivating sustainable media relations and how to respond appropriately to negative publicity or bad press; putting participants ahead of the curve by helping them realise the full potentials of the media and effectively engaging them. The retreat is also intended to empower participants with tested contemporary tools for building and managing organisation’s reputation even at the height of turbulence or economic downtimes.
Besides, participants will be exposed to ethical issues in crisis communication and reputation management as pre-requisite for sustained positive image and public trust; educate participants on the need for integrity and sound ethics as drivers for sustainable communication strategies as well as equip participants with the processes of crisis communication with a view to engaging the right tools for a robust communication strategies.
