Vice-Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), 17 Southern states chapter, Archbishop George Amu, has declared that come what may, all will be well with Nigeria some years ahead.
The road may be rough and tortuous, Nigeria will emerge and submerge all the daunting problems confronting her presently, and take her position in the comity of all nations in the nearest future, he assured.
George Amu, said this in a prophetic message he sent to the people of Nigeria in preparation for his low-keyed 76th birthday anniversary, during an interactive session with Newsmen, held at his residence, in Ikeja during the week.
Nigerian politicians must eschew politics of bitterness and rancor and embrace peace, love and unity.
“Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace has brought peace to the world including Nigeria, and we must allow peace, love, justice and equity to dominate our behaviors, actions and relationship with our fellow men and women”, he emphasized. In 2018, let us as Nigerians look behind us with understanding, before us with faith and around us with love. We as Nigerians should stand at the threshold of a new year. May God help us to be kind, fair and wise in all our affairs. As for me and my family, we shall serve the Lord. Joshua 24:15. Archbishop George Amu, one-time PCRC chairman, Zone Two Police Command, Lagos, patron Area ‘F’ Polce Command, Ikeja, and member Board of Trustees Saint Gregory College, Obalende, Lagos, expressed sadness the way and manner our politicians have been attacking President Muhammadu Buhari in recent times. Amu emphasised that as a Nigerian, he believes Buhari has been trying his best for the country and he needs prayers, support and encouragement, not condemnation.
And therefore, all Nigerians should stand solidly behind him to do his best for this country, reminding how bad he met the country’s economy when he took over the mantle of leadership in 2015.
George Amu, General Overseer, Good News Bible Church, Oshodi, Lagos, also wants a good relationship to exist between the National Assembly, the executive and the judiciary, in order to move this country forward, instead of the present acrimony existing between them. Ditto the state governors and their state legislators.
“I am not a politician; neither do I want to be one. But the truth must be told that all is not well with our politicians who don’t see any good in what their opponents do, however good they are. This is not good enough. Speaking on restructuring, Archbishop Amu, emphasised the need for all Nigerians to start with themselves, their homes, communities, their religions, tribes and states before talking of Nigeria. He gave an example of how Lagos State Government gave large acres of land to Dangote Group of Companies belonging to Northerner to build a refinery for the benefit of the entire Nigerians. This is what Ogun state Government did to Dangote to establish a cement factory. Archbishop.
Amu asked: How many states in Nigeria can allocate land to non natives to establish or set up industries in their areas and yet we are talking about restructuring. He said if all this six geopolitical zones have allowed other nonnative to come to their areas to establish refineries each, we would not be talking about fuel shortage in this country by now.
