The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has released N7.61 billion to nine Pension Fund Administrators (PFAs) for payment to 4,237 retirees, Comptroller-General of Customs Adewale Adeniyi disclosed during a dialogue session with retired NCS personnel on Tuesday, 14 July 2026. Adeniyi said the funds had been disbursed to the PFAs for onward payment into the retirees’ individual accounts, reaffirming the Service’s commitment to improving the welfare of its retired officers.
A breakdown presented at the meeting showed Access-ARM Pension Managers handling 1,223 beneficiaries, Premium Pension 2,268, Leadway Pensions 403, TrustFund Pensions 156, FCMB Pensions 144, Veritas Glanvills Pensions 28, Norrenberger Pensions 11, and Fidelity Pension Managers four, bringing the total number of beneficiaries to 4,237.
Adeniyi told the retirees that the Service must remain financially strong enough to meet its obligations to both serving officers and retirees, stressing that the welfare of those who dedicated decades of service could not be separated from the institution’s own future. He said the dialogue was convened specifically in response to concerns and suggestions raised by retirees, aimed at improving mutual understanding and reducing the influence of rumours and unofficial information on the relationship between the Service and its retired personnel. “I acknowledged your concerns and suggestions raised, and it is in view of this we called for this dialogue to promote better understanding and reduce the effect of rumours and unofficial information on the relationship between the Service and its retired personnel,” Adeniyi said.
The dialogue was attended by Deputy Comptroller-General of Customs for Human Resources Development DCG Tijjani Abe, along with other members of the Service’s Management Team, who assured retirees that their concerns would be given appropriate attention at upcoming Board and Management sittings.
Retirees at the meeting expressed appreciation to the Comptroller-General and Management Team for engaging directly with their concerns, and appealed to the Service to sustain the dialogue as a way of strengthening ties between serving officers and retired personnel.
The engagement comes amid ongoing federal efforts to review pension welfare provisions, including Section 15(4) of the Pension Reform Act 2014, in line with Section 173(3) of the 1999 Constitution as amended.
