The Customs Service have seized several 50kg bags of rice and vegetable oil in 25 liters commodities, as well as vehicles.
The seizure were effected by officers and men of the CGC Strike Force, Zone ‘A’ from different locations within the zone.
The seized items were conveyed in different vehicles ranging from Mazda and Toyota cars numbering six (6), five (5) buses, and two (2) trucks respectively, all fully loaded with the seizures and parked at customs training college and warehouse in Ikeja.
These seizures is coming barely one month of take over of the Zone ‘A’ arm of the CGC Strike Force by Deputy Comptroller Yahaya Biri, who have over the years proven to be an enforcement officer of high standing considering his antecedent in the battle against smuggling and nefarious activities of economic saboteurs.
Though most of the seized goods including one of the trucks and about five (5) hired buses that were fully loaded with rice were intercepted in Igbora area of Oyo axis, while five (5) of the cars loaded with same rice commodities were apprehended along Idiroko border axis of Ogun State.
Also, another truck fully loaded with over 1,000 (25 litres) vegetable oil products from Malaysia was apprehended through the vibrant information profiling method of the Yahaya led Strike Force.
The truck according to him was intercepted in Lagos hinterland around Trade Fair, Mile 2 axis by his information patrol team.
However, the overal quantity and Duty Paid Value of the seizures were yet to be determined as at the time of compiling this report.
