A Naira notes vendor, Mrs. Anifat Abidoun, 38, has been kept in Agodi prison, Ibadan, for illegal sale of Nigerian currency notes.
She was remanded on Thursday in the prison after being arraigned by men of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Oyo State Command, before a Federal High Court sitting in Ibadan on a 2 count-charge bordering on tampering and trading in currency, hawking and selling of currency notes, the offence contravens section 21(1) and (4) of Central Bank of Nigeria Act 2007.
NSCDC Public Relations Officer (PRO), in the state, Mr. Olusegun Oluwole, in a statement sent to DAILY POST on Friday, added that Mrs. Abiodun “was among the suspects arrested in Ibadan during a joint operation by Oyo State command of the NSCDC and CBN officials.”
Oluwole in the statement maintained that, “Oyo State Commandant, John Oyedokun Adewoye warn member of the public to desist from illegal sales of our national currency as offenders will be punish.
“The case has been adjourned to 26 November.”
