The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has celebrated retiring Deputy Comptroller-General Musa Omale, honoring his 35-year career marked by intellectual depth, quiet professionalism, and unwavering dedication. Comptroller-General Adewale Adeniyi and the Service’s Management Team led tributes at a farewell ceremony held Friday, June 5, 2026, at headquarters in Maitama, Abuja.

Adeniyi praised Omale as a book-loving, intellectually curious officer committed to continuous personal growth. He emphasized that public servants leave lasting imprints through their actions and conduct. The Comptroller-General advised Omale to谨慎 approach future investments, cautioning against unfamiliar ventures, while praying for his health and continued contribution to national development.

Deputy Comptroller-General Timi Bomodi recalled meeting Omale 35 years ago at Port Harcourt as fellow attachés, describing him as consistently humble, reliable, and intellectually sharp. Your word is your bond, Bomodi said, affirming Omale’s dependability throughout his career.

Director of Legal Services Smart Akande remembered Omale as articulate, diligent, and quietly effective during their joint work on prosecution matters in Port Harcourt. Akande joked that Omale might become a professor after retirement, noting his academic inclinations. Assistant Comptroller-General Nafiu Isiaku highlighted Omale’s passion for learning, attention to detail, excellence, and mentorship of younger officers, observing that he remained approachable despite his senior rank.

Omale expressed gratitude for the honor, describing himself as calm and steady by nature. He linked his academic interests to early Service experiences and recalled representing his superior at a board meeting as a young officer, a moment he called professionally defining. He pledged continued availability to support the Customs Service and praised Adeniyi’s listening leadership style.
