The Nigeria Customs Service, Federal Operations Unit (FOU) Zone A, has commenced a comprehensive First Aid Training Programme to boost the health, safety, and emergency response capabilities of its officers. The programme was officially launched at the Command headquarters in Ikeja on 11 November 2025 by Comptroller Mohammed Shuaibu, who described it as a crucial step in safeguarding personnel welfare and operational readiness.
This initiative, approved by Comptroller-General of Customs Adewale Adeniyi, emphasizes the critical nature of first aid skills in emergency situations, potentially saving lives in the line of duty and beyond. Participants received practical instruction on First Aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), trauma care, and emergency procedures critical for prompt responses before professional medical aid arrives.
Comptroller Shuaibu urged officers to engage earnestly with the training and encouraged them to apply these life-saving skills both professionally and personally. The medical team leading the sessions ensured the hands-on training was practical and intensive, aiming to foster a culture of safety, care, and teamwork during crises.
This first aid training is part of a broader NCS effort to enhance officer welfare and ensure expertise in emergency management across all formations. Participants expressed confidence the programme will significantly improve unit efficiency and safety culture.
