The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Medical Team recently conducted a specialised First Aid and Emergency Response training for officers of the Katsina Area Command as part of a nationwide sensitisation programme. Held on 10 November 2025, the training aimed to equip officers with vital life-saving skills to manage emergencies effectively in the line of duty.
Officers from various units, including the Customs Intelligence Unit and Federal Operations Unit in Katsina, received hands-on instruction on First Aid administration, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), trauma management, and other critical emergency procedures to ensure timely response before professional medical help arrives.
Comptroller Abba-Aji Idriss, Area Controller, commended Comptroller-General of Customs Adewale Adeniyi for prioritising officers’ welfare and operational safety through continuous capacity building. He emphasised the importance of officers being prepared to protect not only the nation’s borders but also lives, including their own and those they serve.
The training was facilitated by Comptroller Habiba Abdulmalik, who highlighted the program’s goal of creating a health-conscious, emergency-ready workforce. Participants described the training as practical and beneficial, promising to share the knowledge with colleagues across formations.
This month-long First Aid sensitisation, launched by the CGC, is being implemented nationwide to ensure all Customs officers are trained to handle emergencies promptly and professionally.
