The Tincan Island Port Command Controller, of the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, Comptroller Musa M.B.A, has challenged his newly Promoted officers/men to be responsible in the discharge of their responsibilities.

The Command received a total of 114 officers comprising of 5  Deputy  Comptrollers, 9 Assistant Comptrollers, 23 Chief Superintendent  of Customs, 16 Superintendent  of Customs, 43 Deputy Superintendent  of Customs and one Assistant Superintendent of Customs among them is Superintendent of Customs (SC) Uche Ejieseme, the image maker, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Tin  Can Island Customs Command was not left out from the promotions.

Comptroller Musa M.B.A of the Command has called on the newly promoted officers to see their elevation as a call to higher responsibilities.

Further, Musa charged them to be resourceful in the discharge of their official duties. He commended the NCS during  the decoration of the Senior Officers  of the Command who  were recently promoted by the NCS.

“Some of  us has join this career in the last 20 to 25 years and definitely our aspiration is that one day  we will get elevated to the next level, so what we are witnessing  today is elevation to the next level, but you have to remember one thing which is very important,  that elevation and promotion comes from God, eligibility considerations may have been considered,  examinations written, interviews conducted, selection done and list roll out for the management consideration. Then the  board approval is given and final list sent to the area”. He said.

“It will interest you to know that a total of 114 Officers in this Command benefited from this promotions.  What is special about promotion? What is special is that expectations is high, that you have been given this elevation,  the service and the government  expects you to perform even more, that is suppose to be upper most  in your mind as a beneficiary of this promotion”.

You have to work very hard, nurture it, put in your very best, work as if its your last day, be creative and know that it’s a career. Many more considerations will come up in the future.

In addition, he console those officers/men that did not benefit from the promotions.

‘For those among us who have not been promoted,  well, God has a way of promoting everyone. That your name is not on this promotion list does not mean that yours will not come in due time,  just take it that yours is on the way.

We are all witnesses  to several event that has happened where people are not promoted at their perceived right time and some are promoted, but in due time their own promotions too came.  So for those whose names did not appear on this present promotion list, take it that yours will come soon and God will always reward hard work in his own way”.

Comptroller Musa congratulates the promoted officers “Once more, and urged them to be more resourceful  because, the Service, their families and the government wants more from them that is why they deem it fit to elevate you to the next rank.

Expectations is very high both interms  of compliance,  revenue, agency’s functions, anti- smuggling activities and what have you. So as much as possible you have to put in your bes.

He finally charged all officers and men of his Command to be resourceful in the discharge of their official duties.
