The Commander 9th Brigade, of the Nigerian Army in Lagos, Brigadier Genaral Musa Etsu-Ndagi, has disclosed the arrest of one Okafor Collins accused of selling cracked cocaine in the Festac area of Lagos State.
According to the Public Relations Officer, of the 9 Brigade Major Clement Kehinde Ajibade: “On behalf of the Commander 9th Brigade, Brigadier Genaral Musa Etsu-Ndagi, you would recall the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General T.Y. Burantai on the 19th of November, 2019, flag-off of Exercise Crocodile Smile IV by 81 Division of the Nigerian Army held at Takwa Bay, in Eti-Osa Local government area of Lagos State.
“The Operation Crocodile Smile IV is now yielding results and I am here on behalf of the commander to parade a suspect, a chronic drug peddler by the name Okafor Collins, age 30years, the suspect was arrested early hour of today by the Operation Crocodile Smile IV troop at 311 road adjacent Sisinatique Club house, festac town with quantity 60 wrapped substance suspected to be cracked cocaine”
“He confessed to committing the crime and claimed to be working with a boss on hard-drug business. He will from here be transferred to the NDLEA for further investigations”.
The Commander advised people who still indulge in it to desist from trading in substances of this nature because these are substances that actually exacerbate crime in the society because when people take this substances, they do not know what they are doing and they become so violent.
“All manners of crimes in our schools including the secondary schools and the rest can be linked to those who deals in hard-drugs, so they should desist for the sake of prosperity of the country at large”
“It is important for people to desist from crime, they should look for legitimate means of making money because we are out to deal with all the criminal elements in the society, we had already carried out our intelligence and we know where all of them are, we shall get them, one after the other.
While parading the suspects on Friday, November 22, 2019, Brigadier Genaral Musa Etsu-Ndagi said that the suspect have reportedly confessed to being responsible for the crime committed.
In the words of the suspect, “My name is Okafor Collins, 30 years old, i am a business man who deals in the sales of textile materials before I travelled to Singapore but I was unable to get long time stay even though I got married to a white lady over there, when I came to Nigeria I was supposed to go back to the East but for the shame and trauma I decided to stay in Lagos. I was in Singapore for 6months planning to go to school but the paper issues was a problem for me. I travelled to Singapore in 2016 and when I came back I was searching for a job to sustain myself then I got a chance at a pharmacy and I later left. This substance was given to me by a man called Okwudilichukwu whom I met when I was working as a bar-man, he (Okwudilichukwu), have his customers that I deliver the crack cocaine to and collect money and return to him within festac. I will advise anybody that still want to indulge in this kind of acts to desist because the society and government forbids it”
